Although you may be able to work with a semi-custom developer who can alter the building plan a little bit, the difference is still night and day when you work with a custom home builder. Our building process.

Over the years, our residential building team has developed a building process that has been tried and tested across multiple builds in the Ohio Valley. Our process is led by a residential project manager, who will oversee all steps and serve as your point of contact throughout the design and construction phases. 

Design.

Design is one of our specialties, and our amazing residential designers will sit down to understand your wants, dreams, and what you want to avoid in your home. We will then come back with 3D renderings and start the multi-stage design process, which includes check-ins and design sessions, virtual walk-throughs, and final customizations to the floor plan, design details, and finishes such as flooring, cabinets, and everything else, including the kitchen sink. 

Drafting.

Once we have finalized the design, we will begin drafting floor plans, blueprints, and architectural drawings to support permitting and material orders. We will also start planning out the building schedule and get subcontractors and trades in place to support the build, and materials orders completed. 

Site Prep.

As we secure building permits, we will begin site prep. This could include removing vegetation, beginning to prep the ground for foundation work, or building out access roads. The amount of prep will depend on the plot of land we are working with and could range from minimal to time-consuming. 

bUilding.

The next stage of the process is to build. From pouring the foundation to framing and finally putting the house together, this process is long and is guided by our amazing general contractors and project managers to ensure we can handle any on-site issues and stay on our timelines. 

Finishing.

Once the walls are up, the floors are in, and the home systems are installed, our finishers will get to work. Whether we are installing crown molding, cabinets, or doing the last-minute caulking, cleaning, and checks, our finishing services ensure that when we hand over the keys, you receive a space ready for your family.

  • Is your team able to handle construction and building permits?

    Yes, the team at Boyers Construction can work with local officials to handle all your construction permits, including building, occupancy, and gas permits, here in Northwest Ohio.  

  • Can I visit the building site during construction?

    Yes, we are happy to provide access to the building site during construction, and you can coordinate your visit with your project manager. Please note that, as you are at an active residential construction site, you will need to wear appropriate clothing and shoes during the visit for your safety. We can also coordinate your visit to ensure that the right people are on site to answer any questions you may have.  

  • Can I make changes during the process?

    Yes, we are happy to work with your make changes to your home design or finishes throughout the process. However, there could be additional charges for new materials, designs and the labor that is involved, depending on the specific changes you are making. For instance, changes such as replacing already-laid flooring or adjusting a bathroom layout that has already been rough-plumbed will most likely result in additional costs.  

  • How long does it take to build a custom home?

    The typical timeline for building a custom home in Northwest Ohio is between 10 and 16 months, depending on when we break ground and the site's complexities.  These timelines are not set in stone, and our project managers can provide more accurate timelines once we have a chance to discuss your specific project and evaluate the building site.
