Masonry.

Our team has perfected the design-and-build process for adding brick to Nucor steel buildings. This process includes designing a brick ledge into the build, installing furring strips and sheathing, attaching masonry ties and laying the brick veneer. This process is time-consuming, but when done right, it will create a functional, well-designed masonry entrance or side wall for your building. 

Glass facades.

As one of the top design-build commercial construction companies in Wauseon, OH, our team of designers is often asked to include glass facades in our designs. Stucco.

For stucco, you have two options to add to the look to your steel building: 


  • The first is installing Nucor’s insulated metal stucco panels, which come in CF Santa Fe, a heavily embossed stucco texture, or CF Tuff Wall, a fiber-reinforced polymer finish with a hard aggregate coating. 


  • The second option is to add exterior insulation and a finish system. To do this, we need to add a sheathing or cement board over the steel studs, waterproof the area, and then add a foam insulation board. Finally, we will add a fiberglass mesh base coat and add the acrylic stucco finish on top to create the classic stucco look.

    Yes, Nucor’s pre-engineered steel buildings can accommodate almost any exterior finish, making the building your own. If you are looking to add masonry such as brick, wood, or even glass, we will need to accommodate that through engineering plans for the framing and grilles, but it is easy enough to do with our designers on the case. 

  • Can you add exterior finishings post-construction?

    You can, but field modification of the use of non-approved cutting and drilling devices may void the warranty that you have in place with Nucor. If you have questions, Nucor or Boyers can chat with you to discuss the specifics of fasteners, nose cones, and aftermarket attachments. It is always best to work with a certified Nucor Partner to make any of these exterior finish changes, as we have access to the entire portfolio and can support your renovations or retrofits without risking your existing Nucor warranty on your steel building system.
