What makes design-build service perfect for equestrian facilities?

Design-build services are one of the best options you can choose if you are looking to reimagine your equestrian facilities and build something new. The reason for this is quite simple: with our designers, we can work within your current requirements and design the building to meet your needs. Whether you are looking for spacious, well-equipped stalls, a professional-grade arena, a wash stall spa for the horses or even a tack room lounge for boarders and owners to relax, we can design a pre-fabricated metal building with any features you want and guide you through the building process here in Wauseon, OH or the rest of the Ohio Valley.

Our equestrian construction services.

As a full-service design-build company, our team is well-equipped to work with professional and first-time equestrian facilities to create spaces that your horses and owners will love. From initial planning to project management of the build with local trades, we are the all-in-one design-build specialist who can work with you and the county to ensure a pain-free, seamless building process from day one.

Facility Planning and Design.

The first step of our design-build process for agricultural and equestrian buildings is a facility planning session. This will be a meeting where our designers will sit down with you to review the footprint we plan to use and any specialized components you want to install. From tech-enabled stall systems and ventilation to professional-style lighting and even durable floors with specialized footings, our team of designers can work with you to make your custom building truly your own. We will also ensure that your building meets code and can add extras like insulation, plumbing, and anything else you might want to create the perfect turnkey equestrian facility.

Construction Services.

Once we have a finalized plan and our architectural drawings are complete, we can start the first part of the process: our construction services. These services include everything from the initial site selection to working through the permitting process here in Wauseon. Our team knows how to secure permits and will guide the project to ensure we can break ground and start site development on time. Once we have permits in place, we will start site prep and work with one of our trusted foundation companies to confirm pouring schedules and the exact dimensions we are targeting.

Project Management.

Once we move from construction services to active on-site construction, our project management team will take over. Our project managers are the conductors of the circus that is building a custom building, and from coordinating our pre-fab building materials to ensuring that the right trades are in place to keep the project moving, they have it covered. Plus, with our experienced managers on-site, we can handle any issue and provide a workable solution to keep us on schedule. We will also arrange all inspections and deliver a code-compliant, legal building designed and built to your specifications.

Ag - Equestrian Page_Form #2

The best local builder serving Northwest Ohio, southern Michigan, and northeast Indiana.

Big job or small, commercial or residential, we don’t quit until it’s built right. Start your project; fill out the form, and we’ll take it from there.

Example Projects we can tackle.

As one of the best design-build companies specializing in equestrian facilities here in Wauseon, OH, we are happy to take on the most ambitious and important projects for horse facilities across the Ohio Valley. From horse barns to turnkey facilities and even expansions, our design-build team is here to support you in building new or renovating ag buildings tailored to your specific farm and methods.

horse barn.

Our horse barn projects focus on the key aspects of any good horse barn, which is a building where you can shelter, feed and care for your horse. Today’s modern horse barns act as a hub of your equestrian facility, and it is where your owners and riders will groom, feed and care for their horses when they are not on the trail or in the arena. Whether you are looking for something simple with a few box stalls and tie stalls, or a barn with tack rooms, wash bays, and tech to monitor the horses, we can not only work with you to design it but also build it to your specifications.

Stables.

Stables are like a horse barn, but are focused on the place where your horse is going to be housed. With our stable designs, you can enjoy a structure that is divided into individual stalls for the horses, feed storage, equipment storage and anything else that you might want in your stable. So, whether you are running a boarding stable or are simply looking for a place to keep your own herd, the design-build experts at Boyers can make your new stable a home fit for a thoroughbred.

Riding Arena.

Riding arena’s are one of the best investments you can make to upgrade your equestrian facilities. Riding arenas are considered dedicated, enclosed spaces used for equestrian training. These arenas typically have a specialized footing, such as sand or rubber, to help prevent training injuries and ensure the safety of horses and riders. With our riding arena designs, you can enjoy an all-weather riding arena where you can jump, barrel ride or work through flatwork in a temperature-controlled environment.

Turnkey facilities.

If you are looking for something where you can simply launch a full-service equestrian facility, you are probably looking for a turnkey facility. In the horse world, a turnkey facility means a horse property that has all the necessary infrastructure, including stables, barns, riding arenas, and pastures. For our team, we can help design and build a facility that not only works for horse people but also flows naturally from the barn to the trails and other training facilities. We can build it all from barns with living quarters that are perfect for summer camps to a riding arena that will one day produce an Olympic champion.

Renovations and expansions.

Although we love a new build, our team of designers and project managers is well-versed in supporting renovations and expansions of existing agricultural and steel buildings. With our designers, we can rethink your current space and provide a new, modern approach to your existing building. Whether you are looking for new features, need additional space to house more horses, or want to completely change a building's function, we are here to make that happen.

Frequently Asked Questions.

Answers You Don’t Need a Hard Hat to Understand.

  • What is a standard stall size for a horse barn or stable?

In general, you will want to design your space around a 12 x 12 standard horse stall. However, if you have warmbloods, draft horses or are planning to install foaling stalls, you will want to have at least a 14 x 14 stall, if not a little more space.

  • How do I choose between an indoor or outdoor arena?

For most of our clients, the question really comes down to if you want to be able to ride in the winter here in Northwest Ohio. If you are looking for an all-season riding option, an indoor arena is the best choice, as we can design and build one that is heated, ventilated, and equipped with professional lighting to create a space that riders and horses love. We also work with some of the top footing installers in the state and will ensure that your indoor arena floor is properly installed with well-graded sand, geotextile, or a rubber blend, along with a top-tier drainage system to keep water and other fluids moving out of the arena.

  • How much and what type of storage is best for a horse barn?

The answer will depend on how you run your specific barn and how you store hay and bedding. Generally, when we design horse barns or stables, we create storage areas for tack, feed, hay, and bedding, plus some overflow space, because we all know horse people love to collect stuff!

  • How do you figure out the right interior layout?

When we work with you to design the interior of your horse barn, we will ask many questions. When you are designing your own custom building, you might as well get what you actually want. This means we will want to know what types of horses you plan to board, where you want tack rooms, tack storage, spigots, and feed storage. Are you looking for a specific flow? At the end of the day, your interior layout will depend on your specific needs, and with our expertise, we can find an interior layout for your barn or stable that works for you and your equine friends.
